At Hurdle Mills IBC, we envision a world where everyone feels loved, valued, and accepted. We strive to create a community where people can come together to worship, learn, and grow in their faith.

We are a diverse and welcoming community of believers who come from all walks of life. Whether you are young or old, single or married, or have a different background, we invite you to join us in worship and fellowship.

At Hurdle Mills IBC, we believe in taking our faith beyond the walls of our church and into the world. We are involved in a variety of local and global outreach programs, from helping those in our communities to supporting missionaries around the world.
The Fatted Calf in the Bible
The phrase “the fatted calf” comes from the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11–32.
Key Verse
Luke 15:22–24
What Was the “Fatted Calf”?
In Bible times, a fatted calf was a young animal specially fed and kept for an important celebration. It was not eaten for everyday meals but saved for honored guests or great occasions.
So when the father called for the fatted calf, he was declaring:
“This is a moment worth celebrating greatly!”

Spiritual Meaning
The fatted calf symbolizes:
1. Joy Over Repentance
When the prodigal son returned, the father rejoiced instead of condemning him.
This pictures how God rejoices when sinners repent.
2. Full Restoration
The son didn’t come back as a servant — he was welcomed back as a son.
The feast showed complete forgiveness and acceptance.
3. The Father’s Love
The costliest meal was given, showing lavish grace, not reluctant mercy.
⸻
Simple Lesson
The fatted calf teaches that:
• God celebrates when the lost come home
• True repentance brings joy in Heaven
• God’s grace is generous and restoring
It is a beautiful picture of the Gospel:
The sinner returns, and the Father prepares a feast of grace.

At Hurdle Mills Independent Baptist Church, we believe that children are a wonderful gift from the Lord. It is our desire to see young people to come and know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and to help them discover their purpose and take steps towards fulfilling it. We offer Master's Club on Wednesday Nights at 7, and we have youth meetings during the month to keep the youth engaged within their church community.

Ladies’ meetings are important because they give women a place to grow spiritually, encourage one another, and strengthen unity in the church. These gatherings help women study God’s Word together, share burdens, and build supportive relationships rooted in Christ. Scripture reminds us of the value of teaching, fellowship, and mutual encouragement:
Ladies’ meetings help fulfill these biblical principles by providing a space where women can pray, learn, fellowship, and grow together in faith.

Men’s prayer meetings are important because they strengthen the spiritual leadership of the church. When men gather to pray, they seek God’s guidance for their families, church, and community, setting a strong foundation of faith and unity. Scripture reminds us of the power and responsibility of godly men:
A men’s prayer meeting encourages accountability, builds spiritual strength, and helps men grow together as faithful examples in the church and at home.
